Summer Selfies: Another Reason to Have Your Teeth Whitened

Summer Selfies: Another Reason to Have Your Teeth Whitened

Over time, teeth can develop stains from food, drinks, and poor hygiene. These stains can cause your teeth to take on a dirty yellow or brown color. This discoloration looks unattractive, and may cause you to hide your teeth when you smile or talk. This is especially not cool in the summertime, when you want to be out having a great time with your friends and taking summer selfies!

Teeth whitening is an easy dental treatment that can remove your teeth stains and bring back your bright white smile. Hannah Baek, DDS at Healthy Smile Dental is a teeth whitening specialist who offers the convenience of in-office or take-home whitening treatments. She fully explains the procedures to you and helps you choose the one that’s right for you.

What causes stains?

The outer layers of your teeth are porous, allowing them to absorb pigments that cause discoloration. Causes include:

Types of teeth whitening

In-office teeth whitening

When you come to our Woodridge, Illinois, office for teeth whitening, we recommend that you have us clean your teeth before beginning the whitening procedure. We use Zoom! whitening agents that are activated by a powerful light.

During the procedure you wear a special mouth guard that keeps your lips out of the way. This treatment is completed in a single visit to our office. In just an hour, you can get your teeth up to eight shades whiter.

Take-home teeth whitening

We also offer you the option of doing your teeth whitening procedure at home. This is a great option for busy schedules, and allows you to keep your teeth looking great between office whitening appointments. These kits provide a higher quality treatment than what you might get from a drugstore.

The take-home kit comes with a custom-molded tray that helps apply the gel to your teeth. To complete the treatment, you fill a tray with a whitening gel and wear the tray for 20 minutes. With regular use for 4-6 weeks, your teeth become cleaner and whiter, giving you a bright, beautiful smile.

Over time, teeth can become discolored and develop stains. Luckily, teeth whitening is an easy procedure that can be performed in our office or in your own home, on your own time. Call or click today to set up an appointment with one of our expert dentists, and get ready for all those selfies!
